I love to see happy buyers and sellers make it to the closing table, but sometimes it just seems especially perfect. Debbie was a referral from my very first buyer clients ever. I know you hear it all over that “your referral is the highest client I can receive”…it sounds cliché, but it honestly is so true in this business. I know I work my butt off for my clients, and they truly become friends by the end of our transaction, so it really is such an honor to know that they thought enough of my work to speak highly of me behind my back!
In today’s Charlotte market, we are experiencing low inventory, which for me means vigilantly watching MLS multiple times per day waiting for the perfect listing to come on the market and being ready to hop in the car for a showing at a moment’s notice. Debbie was looking for something special…a home that would be manageable for her to live in alone someday, but also spacious enough for now with just the perfect floorplan to accommodate her two daughters and a sweet grandbaby on the way! When their home came on the market, I was hit with a wave of excitement…I knew we’d found it!
Now low inventory equals lots of multiple offer situations, so Debbie was prepared to offer above asking price with a clean offer, free of seller requests…all except for a gorgeous pot rack she was in love with in the kitchen…we did ask for that! 😉 Debbie’s financing was solidly in line, and all we had to do was wait. After a friendly call to the sellers’ agent, I knew Debbie had a good shot, but it didn’t make waiting any easier and it certainly didn’t diminish my excitement at sharing the news that her offer had been chosen over 8 other offers and was accepted!
During our walkthrough, we commented on the impeccable care the previous owners had taken of this home. We marveled at how they had carefully patched nail holes in walls where pictures had hung and even left the paint cans in the appropriate rooms for touch ups. They’d even gone to the trouble of leaving a beautiful lily, a bottle of champagne, and a card that read “Welcome home, Debra!” Everything just felt perfect.
Closings are just the best when perfect strangers smile and shake hands and even hug. I love feeling like everyone involved is headed on to a wonderful next chapter of life. Now that home is getting new floors, that pot rack is being filled with the favorite pans of a new owner, and a nursery is being painted grey…the perfect backdrop for pink and white for a sweet baby girl who will grow up in this home, loved by her mama, her sweet aunt, and her adoring grandmother…a family of strong women. I look forward to seeing where life in their new home takes this amazing family.
Congratulations, Debbie. It was truly a pleasure!
